About this Item: Providence, R. I.: Central Baptist Church 1914, 1914. Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Photograph of old church (This congregation is now Community Church of Providence.) ] Paper wraps with brown lettering. Has photograph of the old Central Baptist Church (1857-1914 ), taken down about 1912. E. H. Rhodes wa Chair of the building committee, Deacon, and Superintendent of the Sunday school. He is memorialized by a stained glass window, a flagpole, and the fellowship hall. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 and became the commanding colonel of the 2nd R. I. Volunteers in 1865. His journal and letters were published as ALL FOR THE UNION which was quoted from by Ken Burns for THE CIVIL WAR FILM. Seller Inventory # 001494
