Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Second. The second printing (the first was nearly 30 years earlier in 1927) of this collection of traditional American mountain region songs. Cloth, 120 pps. with index; illustrated with drawings. Gathered from the log cabins and remote highlands of Tennessee, northern Georgia, the Carolinas, Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri, the 61 pieces preserved here are not found in many, if any, other works. Regional variations of several songs are presented and Mrs. Richardson focuses as much as possible on original American songs rather than the traditional English and Scottish ballads often found in the region. Fine in fine dust jacket. Lyrics and musical arrangements are found herein. The songs are arranged in four groups: Ballads (Americanized and American), Lonesome and Love Tunes, Spitituals and Nonsense songs. Fine in fine, bright dust jacket.
