Two vintage studio still photographs from the 1953 film. One borderless, with mimeo snipe affixed to the verso and folded over the recto. Based on Charles Major's 1898 novel "When Knighthood was in Flower," which had been adapted to film twice before in the silent era, once in 1908, a D.W. Griffith production, directed by Wallace McCutcheon, (titled either the same as the novel or "When Knights were Bold"), now lost, and once in 1922 by William Randolph Hearst's company Cosmopolitan Productions, as a vehicle for Hearst's mistress Marion Davies, directed by Robert Vignola. Released in England under the same title as the book and in the US as "The Sword and the Rose," this was Disney's third British production following "Treasure Island" (1950) and "The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men" (1952). The story of Mary Tudor (Glynis Johns), sister of King Henry VIII (James Robertson Justice) and her struggle not to married off to the French King Louis XII (Jean Mercure). Broadcast in 1955 on the Disneyland television show in two parts under the title "When Knighthood was in Flower." Set in and shot on location in England. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.

The back I BOMB NY logo is by the Bernadette Corporation. Looking back though, it is interesting how certain mainstream politicians have taken all our avant-garde strategies, DADA, Punk, Fiction, Surrealism, Performance, Wigs, even FAKE NEWS (homage: Yves Klein), squeezed the dear soul out of them and weaponized them for their delinquent purposes. If that is really the case of our times, then what is the role of an artist today? Discuss." -- Artist''s statement Very Good / Fine.
