Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Special Heritage Edition. An illustrated, narrative account of early Texas life. Dr. Roemer is known as the "Father of Texas Geology." His travels in Texas from 1845-1847 were primarily for geological study, but he also observed the plants, Indians, and German settlements. He traveled from Galveston to San Antonio to Fredericksburg to Glen Rose. His travelogue was published back in Germany in 1849. Oswald translated the first English edition in 1935 and it was reprinted again in 1967 and 1983. This 1995 printing is stated Special Heritage Edition. 308 pages with Index and Preface to the 1983 edition by Dona B. Reeves, Mueller's 1935 Preface, the Geological Preface of 1983, by O.T. Hayward, and the Geological Preface from the 1935 edition by Donald C. Barton.
