Book
Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - In the narrow orientations in theological education, we seldom find a meaningful conversation between the different departments. However, it is vital to bridge between the various areas of study and to listen to research work done in the other 'camp'. This book is an attempt to contribute to the conversation between Missiology and Biblical Studies.Articles in this book offer some perspectives on various aspects of witness, evangelism and mission as one finds them in the Bible. They are supplemented and enriched by others who bring mission perspectives to bear on the biblical text. The deep conviction that this book affirms is that biblical as well as missiological research will only benefit if its representatives continue a conversation between the two areas.

Cloth. Condition: Very Good. None (illustrator). A very scarce copy of this expansive reference work edited by F. J. Routledge. Volume IV. only. Covering the years 1657-1660. This particular volume presents a calendar of the Clarendon State Paper that are preserved in Oxford University's world renowned Bodleian Library. Edited by F. J. Routledge, under the direction of Sir Charles Firth. Previous owners bookplate of 'Roy & Nina Merley' to the front pastedown, and an additional booksellers label to the tail of the pastedown. The Merleys owned Plaish Hall, Shropshire. This is a stunning Grade I Tudor house, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The home once belonged to Judge William Leighton, who was an amateur poet and sixteenth century composer. The house, as it stands now, was built in two stages for Leighton, who was presiding over a trial of prisoners whilst the home was being completed. Roy and Nina Merley owned the house for thirty-five years and were responsible for reinstating the Tudor style gardens and renovating the house to its former glory. Their bookplate has an image of the house in the background, with a blackbrid eating a worm in the foreground. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. Light patches of rubbing to the front and rear joints, and 2 small tears to the head and tail of the front joints. Booksellers label and the previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. The external condition of this copy impacts the overall condition. Very Good. book.

Fat 8vo. 6 x 8.75 inches. xvii + [i] + 942 + [1] pp. Bound in original orange cloth, gilt, in dust wrapper, which has slight edge wear neatly repaired. A little spotting of edges, but otherwise a very good copy. The greater part of this volume consists of diplomatic correspondence around the time of the Second Dutch War, 1665-67, but it also contains material relating to Irish affairs when the second earl was Lord Lieutenant under James II and from when the third earl, then Lord Cornbury, was governor of New York. Edward Hyde, later first Earl of Clarendon (1609-74), statesman and MP, was chief advisor to Charles I during the First Civil War and Lord Chancellor, 1660-67.
