Book
Softcover. Moss Publications. 1972. Berkeley, CA. Octavo (mid-size paperback). Very good. Signed by Riera, with a 3-word inscription to a former owner, on half-title page. This is a counterculture classic, lightly illustrated by Jim Parkinson, with photographs by Marshal Schultz. Parkinson's great period art on the cover shows a young couple 'truckin along the avenue'. A random sampling on page 114 describes the 'New Monk' in Berkeley, where at any given time you might be treated to the likes of Elvin Bishop, Paul Butterfield, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Gideon and Power, Lightnin' Hopkins, Jerry Garcia, or Tom Fogerty. The cost to get in was between $1.50 and $3.00, depending on the act. Photographs of the two authors can be found in rear of book. Also includes lisitngs for other locations in northern California, such as Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe. 242 pages.
