Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 1911 ILLUMINATED 1ed Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible SANGORSKI Gospel of Matthew The Sermon on the Mount, is a beautifully illustrated presentation of the famous Biblical passage by Alberto Sangorski. This work features ornate borders richly adorned with floral and geometric patterns, as well as iconography. Central to the designs are medallion portraits that include Jesus Christ, St. John, St. Paul, St. Matthew and more, each encircled by decorative elements. The text within is from the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5 through 7, encompassing the Beatitudes and other famous teachings of Jesus. Sangorski s artwork brings a vivid and intricate aesthetic to the foundational Christian text, which lays out moral precepts such as the importance of meekness, mercy, and purity of heart, as well as practical directives on love, generosity, and faith. The book itself suggests a historical reverence for the sacred text, presenting it not just as scripture but also as a magnificent piece of art.
