Maroon cloth lettered in silver on the front cover and the spine and with a decorative boarder stamped in black on the front cover along with four decorative devices stamped in black. The spine has a similar border at the top and bottom and large decorative device stamped in black. Unsigned binding and cover designer unknown. Just hints of wear to extremities, cloth clean and bright, silver bright, previous owner's signature and address in felt pen on the front pastedown [Fenwick Warner, Glendora, CA], frontispiece photo in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. This is the story of the Indian Mutiny of 1857 told by one who served in the East Indian service. The heroine, Zanee Kooran, is a Hindu Begum, faithful to the British, with whom the hero and story-teller falls in love. It is a work of historical fiction describing the historic Sepoy Rebellion in India.
