Ringbound. Condition: As New. First Edition. Only printing. Exhibition catalogue for a show at the Pace Gallery, September 11-October 18, 2014. A Very Fine copy in black ring-bound boards, text printed on goldenrod paper, the illustrations on coated white. 83pp. Lavishly illustrated in black and white and color, covering the period from 1949-1982. Steinberg [1914-1999], though popularly regarded as a cartoonist and magazine cover illustrator, had serious pretensions as a modern artist, and the unsettling depth and quirkiness of his work go far beyond light entertainment. His "View of the World from 9th Avenue" is a visual signature of The New Yorker magazine. Q08808.
