First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is not a book but a near-mint, 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm, long-playing vinyl Calypso record, Steady-134, in very-good-plus cardboard jacket. Reduced from $80.
Published by The Nonesuch Press, London, 1925
Hardcover. xxvii, 197p., paper-covered 10x7 inch boards decorated with blind panelling. The usual superb Nonesuch presswork, unopened signatures, hardbound, copy 143 of 900cc, printed by W. Lewis of CUP, but the casing is of substandard design which allowed both outer joints to split top to bottom. Hinges remain sound, but "paper fatigue" has created the two splits, aesthetic gaps that measure about one sixteenth of an inch These have been tacked expertly (the inexpert might have glued the spine panel "tight-back", leaving no "tunnel") but the fault remains. Front cover, moreover, is somewhat dished. Basically a reading copy of King's selected better verse (poetry was not his main calling) or verse of genuine historical interest. As is: clean and unmarked, just a little hard to handle.
