It answers the need of die creative artist who seeks a counter-active to the non-feeling and mechanistic trends of today. Each drawing shows a remarkable combination of abstract qualities coexisting with a deep human confrontation. These drawings emanate from profound concentration on man?s meaningfulness to man, projected into idea through line, mass, spacial relationship, and flowing movement. The quotations that accompany each drawing are from Part Two of THE ART EXPERIENCE by Vicci Sperry?they are inspiring, enlightening and, together with the drawings, offer a uniquely rewarding experience. Vicci Sperry, whose home is in Los Angeles, has exhibited in Paris, New York, and many other cities in the United States. She resided for many years in Chicago where she was a well-known artist. Her years of drawing, painting, teaching and lecturing, collecting, loving art and the artist, led to the creation of this book. The vitalizing experience of drawing has been regenerated in the activity of many artists who have seen these drawings. There are 47 drawings in this latest book by Vicci Sperry.

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First edition. Vicci Sperry (1900-1995) was born in New York City and began her career as an avant-garde abstract expressionist artist in Chicago in the 1930s. After studying with Hans Hofmann, she became one of, if not the only student he entrusted to critique his work, as well as deeply involved in the Greenwich Village ferment of the forties and fifties as a close associate of such noted artists as Franz Kline, Willem De Kooning, Jackson Pollock, and many others. Over the decades, she exhibited in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and numerous other cities in the United States. Her many years of painting, teaching, lecturing, and collecting and loving art and artists generated her book The Art Experience, published in 1969 by André Sauret. A follow up collaboration on a book of Drawings was also published.
