Condition: Fair. 1932. No Edition Remarks. 162 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering. Black and white photographic plates. Light dog-earring and moderate tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pen inscription to rear free endpaper. Moderate cracking to gutters and hinges causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Bound in tan cloth over boards with blue lettering to the spine and blue line drawings of birds to the front cover. Dated 1932 on title page. No date on copyright page. 161 pages. Good condition. Binding is snug and square. Overall toning and discoloration, especially to the spine. Very faint rubbing to the cloth at the corners. Pages toned and foxed. A few short pencilled notes to the head of the front free endpaper. A personal library bookplate to the front attached endpaper. No other marks or writing to be found. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
