Full title: "Prophetic Controversy, No. 2; Extracted from the writings and criticisms of John E. Page, James J. Strang, William Marks and Hyrum P. Brown, to which are added a few notes in brackets, and a short commentary by the transcriber, Wingfield Watson" Very good with "Strangites" and "25" written on the front cover and a small surface loss affecting a few characters. Contents pristine. 12mo.

This letter was sent to Mrs. Corey --who wrote an unpublished history of the Smiths entitled "Mother Smith's History"-- containing his explanation of his prophetic worthiness. This is in response to a letter Mrs. Corey wrote to her sister, who passed it on to Strang. In the letter she refers to Strang as the "vain usurper" and invites him write her to "show forth his strong reasons". Rare Fair with chipped edges, first and last pages detached, and small hole in first page. 8vo.
