Poerre's Papa is known as Antoine the Hunter. Father Dumont is in charge of the village church. Pierre calls his horse Belle. Tughan's colour drawings provide a vivid representation of Metis life on the prairies. A map (local and regional) on the end-papers shows the locale near the Souris River.
