First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This book is heavily illustrated with sepia-toned photographs of movie stars from the earliest days of films until the mid-1920s. According to the blurb on the title page the volume is "a comprehensive survey of the Motion Pictures, from the early development to the present. The dramatic, artistic and educational phases; the outstanding successes and leading personalities." The book is a large oblong folio. Condition: cloth spine strip is missing and has been replaced with scotch tape. The outer & inner hinges have also been reinforced with cellophane tape, now quite old and yellowed. The edges of the brown paper covered boards have been edged in scotch tape. The fore-edge of the title page has been reinforced against nicking with tape. There are several small tape repairs inside the book. Some minor moisture staining is visible at the lower corners of approximately half the pages. Generally speaking, this is a fair and very serviceable copy of an uncommon book. Aside from the small portrait photographs of the stars of the day, there are larger photos of scenes from some of the blockbusters of the 1920s that are truly worth the price of admission. As an added bonus, the book contains a glossary of moving-picture terms at the end of the volume. Pages: 112.
