Paperback. Condition: Very Good+. Single issue. Original covers, pp 517-680, illustrated with several drawings and photographs. Paperback, very good+. Previous owner's small name label on front cover, covers rubbed along edges with a few approximately 1/8-1/4 inch nicks, ¼ inch chip off foot of spine, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked and apparently never read, with numerous unopened leaves. Articles on New Zealand, a summer outing in New York City, text of "A Lucky Accident" by J Ranken Towse, fashions, women physicians in Germany, etc. Literature; ephemera; Victorian; Chautauqua.

Leather. 826p. A hardcover book bound in 3/4 black leather with black cloth boards. Edges rubbed and spine leather a bit crackly-looking. Early owner's inscription inside front cover. Margins tanned and pages have a brittle feel. Scattered notes in text (appears to be from a very early owner). Most text unmarked, and binding is tight. Volume 12 (or volume 3 of the New Series) of THE CHAUTAUQUAN, a monthly educational magazine for the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. Contains articles on a wide variety of topics, including a recurring section called the "Woman's Council Table." This particular volume contains numerous features on English history by such figures as Woodrow Wilson and Sarah Orne Jewett. The majority of the contributing writers are women.
