Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover with black cloth over boards, leather over spine and corners. Gold lettering and embossed decoration across spine. Light fading to cloth along edges and where cloth meets leather. Spine lightly faded, revealing an orange-brown shade. Crown and foot bumped and chipping slightly, showing the same orange-brown color and a glimpse of the boards themselves at the very edge of both crown and foot. Corners also bumped and lightly faded up the edges, but much less prominent than the spine. One dent in cloth over back cover, fraying but not revealing the boards. Gold lettering on spine slightly discolored at edges, but fully legible. Roughly 10.5 inches tall by 8 inches wide. Title page dated 1915. Copyright page solely dated 1915. 389 pages. Includes biographies of Virginian figures from 1861-1915, divided into governors, judges of the Supreme Court of Appeals, Confederate officials, presidents, senators, representatives, and assorted prominent people. Features several black and white portraits of assorted featured people in each section (about 25 total). Also includes index of names. Pages clean and very lightly toned, though portraits have left squares of more intensely toned/stained paper on pages facing them. Two former owners' names written on blank page following front free endpaper, one in pen and the other in pencil. Beautiful marbled endpapers and foredge, fully intact and undamaged. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover with black cloth over boards, black leather over corners and spine. Gold lettering and embossed decoration across spine. Cloth over front cover is wrinkled, fraying slightly where it is attached to the leather. Also fraying slightly at top left corner of back. Cloth on both sides fading lightly along edges, most prominent along foredge where it is discolored to a pale brown. Leather similarly faded along edges, turning an orange-brown shade as it fades. Corners bumped, revealing a glimpse of the boards. Foot of spine also bumped and slightly chipping, also showing a bit of the boards. Two chips in spine, at top and bottom half, each orange-brown. A few spots of staining over gold lettering, but it remains fully legible. Roughly 10.5 inches tall by 8 inches wide. Title page dated 1915. Copyright page solely dated 1915. 1144 numbered pages, but starts at 561. Continuation from previous volume. Includes addenda and errata, index of names, and black and white portraits of many featured figures. The portraits are printed on glossy paper, though most pages featuring portraits have detached from the binding and are merely tucked into the book. None appear to be missing, and all pages are in otherwise neat condition. Text pages are very lightly toned, otherwise clean and bright.Binding beginning to loosen along hinges and at crown of spine, but no pages other than the portraits are loose and there is no cracking.
