About this Item: [Montgomery, AL - Birmingham, AL]: Inaugural Book Committee - E.E. Swalley (printer), [1967]., 1967. 272 pages. Large paperback: H 28.25cm x L 21.5cm. Stiff paper covers rubbed, mild soiling to white rear panel. Binding staples rusted but firm. Interior pages are clean. A very good- copy. Uncommon publication for the inauguration of Governor Lurleen Wallace who died in office from cancer on May 7, 1968 less than a year and half into her four year term. Her election was a blatant political manipulation as husband Governor George Wallace was ineligible to seek reelection after his 1963-1967 first term, a law which was later changed and enabled him to serve three other terms (1971-1975, 1975-1979, and 1983-1987).
