Small 8vo (7 by 4 1/2 inches); 64 pages (unpaginated); red cloth, front cover with black border & leafy branches, central square with applied gold background on which is added a green kneeing boy on left, and sitting white dog on right. Title in gold and silver. In center lower cover a small round applied black circle with a blue bird in its center. Back cover with central blind stamped device. The cloth is evenly but not badly mottled. Coated light yellow endpapers. Illustrated with a frontispiece, title vignette, three more vignettes in the text, and 28 full-page engravings. Each facing an appropriate story. One copy listed in World Cat. - same content but a very different binding.
