While this is a biography of Marine Lieutenant David Westphall who died in Vietnam in1968, written by his father, that began as a search for the truth of David's death and ultimately became a tribute to all Vietnam veterans. Dr. Westphall, a World War II veteran, later set out to build a memorial to his son that went on to become a Chapel and Memorial to all Vietnam veterans.

Pea green cloth covered boards and spine with a darker green lettering on both the spine and the front board. Book has a light bumping at the head and tail of the spine with light accompanying rubbing. Light rubbing also at the tips of the four outside corners. White endpapers. Previous owner's name on the upper edge of the free front endpaper. Binding is straight and tight. Pages are all clean, white, and crisp. 212 pages. Illustrated with maps, charts, graphs, etc. Dust Jacket - An inch of the jacket is chipped away at both the head and tail of the spine and from the lower front outside corner of the front cover. Missing portion of the jacket at the tail of the spine extends around to about an inch or so of the lower edge of the front cover. The missing portion of the jacket at the head of the spine extends around the upper edge of the rear cover - missing about an inch wide and two inches deep. Rear cover has been torn from upper edge to lower edge, but has been carefully repaired. Some chipping at the outside corners. Upper corner of the front inside flap has been price clipped. Held in place by a dust jacket cover, it actually still presents pretty well, but the missing pieces are obvious. Text on the lower edge of the front cover reads "The disposal of public lands - a documented history of courage and crime, honor and exploitation.".
