In the following ten years, the United States Air Force underwent a major reorganization. Airlifters and tankers were combined inton the new Air Mobility Command designed to facilitate the projection of America's power anywhere in the world. The events in Korea mark a significant milestone in the development of the concepts of air mobility. For the first time, airlift, aeromedical evacuation, and aerial refueling were used in combat. For the fiftieth anniversity the chronology has been updated. A number of aerial refueling events have been added. The purpose of this chronology remains the same--to serve as a hand reference source and a meaningful document on the heritage of the United States Air Force.
