Softcover. Condition: Good+. Unstated edition. [light handling wear, a little browning at spine, and some dampstaining which (for some weird reason) has affected only the four photographic plates and nothing else]. (4 B&W photographs) An early play by Williams -- the next-to-last of his so-called "apprentice plays" -- written in collaboration with his longtime friend Donald Windham. Originally written in 1942, it wasn't staged on Broadway until the Fall of 1945 (an event probably made possible by the success of "The Glass Menagerie," which had opened that Spring and was still running). It was the last Broadway appearance of Montgomery Clift before he decamped permanently for Hollywood; he appears in all four of the photos that illustrate this volume (albeit at a great distance in one of them).

Paper. 1st Paper Edition. Sharp looking 1st printing of the paper edition of the play "You Touched Me! Based on a short story by D.H. Lawrence. Laid in the book is a nice hand written 8 line note from Donald Windham, dated Jan 1978. The verso of the card is illustrated with one of Windham's mildly homoerotic postcard collages. Also laid in the book is a card for a production of the play in 1958 presented by the Equity Library Theatre in NYC. Also included is a playpill from the original Broadway production. The front cover pictures a young Montgomery Clift, Edmund Gwen and Catherine Willard. The top of the playbill has been signed by Donald Windham. The play ran for only 109 performances, and was one of Clift's early stage roles even considering that he began acting as a young boy. There is a tiny spot on his photo (near his forehead), and a very faint stain to the top of the program. Laid in the playbill is a nice handbill for the show at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, small photos of the cast and short bios. Light edge wear to the bottom edge. Book.
