Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Thus. A clean and tight copy of the 1848 edition of this venerable title, published by the Ecclesiastical History Society, which appears to be an Oxford University entity. Perhaps it would be more accurate to designate the Oxford University Press as the publisher. In any case, it was printed by T. Combe, printer to the University. The book was formerly in the possession of a diocesan library, but the only sign of this is a bookplate. The pages of this copy are still uncut. The paper has age-toned to an attractive creamy color, and it is in no way brittle. I see no foxing. The binding is sound but dusty-looking. with bumped corners but no breakdown at any point. The boards are covered with buckram and embossed with an ecclesiastical design featuring a bishop's mitre and staff, gilded in front, plain in back. The gilded lettering on the spine is faded but still legible. You will be pleased with the condition of this book.; Ex-library.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. All four hard cover volumes in very good condition. No dust jacket. Facsimile reprints of the third edition published from 1813-1820. Vol I - slightly shaken with minor marks to edges of text block. Vol II - slightly shaken. Vol IV - slight mottling to edges of boards. This is a very heavy set and would require substantial extra postage for overseas courier delivery. 4to. clxxvii + c394pp, c456pp + c260pp, c645pp, c543pp + 251pp.
