Piper produced an original aquatint 'Figures from a Seal' and four lithographs specifically for the book. The lithographs were drawn in Paris and printed by Mourlot. A further note indicates that John Piper signed the book for Freer on the limitation page as well as on the frontispiece and on each of the four lithographs.Laid in is an Autograph Postcard Signed by Myfanwy, the wife of John Piper, dated 3.11.90: about 90 words to Allen Freer partly about John's failure to recover fully from an operation and partly about the recent death of their son Edward, also an artist.Fine in good, torn, chipped and rubbed dustwrapper repaired on the reverse and in the cloth slipcase which is rubbed at the edges. An extraordinary copy.
