About this Item: Condition: Wie neu. International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, Rochester, New York. 1975. First edition, first printing. The most important and famous catalogue of a photography exhibition! Softcover (as issued). 254 x 228 mm. 48 pages. Condition: Inside clean condition without marks or stains; first two pages with very light crease at the bottom corner. Front cover with slightest trace of use. Rear cover at the top with crease; does not concern the inner pages. Overall very fine, fresh, white and clean copy of this extrem sensitive and uncredible scarce catalogue! "New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape" is the title of an exhibition that epitomized a key moment in American landscape photography. The show was curated by William Jenkins at the International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House (Rochester, NY) in January 1975. The exhibition had a ripple effect on the whole medium and genre, not only in the USA, but in Europe too where generations of landscape photographers emulated and are still emulating the spirit and aesthetics of the exhibition. Since 1975 "New Topographics" photographers such as Robert Adams, Lewis Baltz, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Frank Gohlke and Stephen Shore have influenced photographic practices regarding landscape around the world. For "New Topographics" William Jenkins selected eight then-young American photographers. Each photographer in the New Topographics exhibition was represented by 10 prints. All but Stephen Shore worked in black and white. More than thirty years after its opening "New Topographics" still remains an exhibition of great impact and influence on western landscape photography, an influence that even extended to Japanese landscape photography (see Naoya Hatakeyama’s work for instance) and whose long-term effects can even be identified in contemporary Chinese photography.****************International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, Rochester, New York. 1975. Erstausgabe. Amerikanische Originalausgabe. Der wichtigste und berühmteste Katalog einer Fotografie-Ausstellung. Softcover (as issued). 254 x 228 mm. 48 Seiten. Seller Inventory # 23778
