Monkton House, West Sussex, designed and re-designed variously by Edwin Lutyens, Christopher Nicholson, Norris Wakefield, Edward James, Hugh Casson, & Salvador Dali. and the attempts (sadly unsuccessful) in the 1980s by English Heritage, The Thirties Society and others to preserve the house and its extraordinary contents of surrealist art and design - said to have been one of the finest collections of its kind anywhere - for the public. Book was published in February 1986 as part of their campaign. The house still stands, but is today a private residence gutted of its collection. 4to. Comb-binding. Pink pictorial cover.
