Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Richard Heighway (illustrator). Macmillan. New York. 1945. 222 pages. Edited by Joseph Jacobs; profusely illustrated by Richard Heighway. Illustrated red cloth panels are bright and clean. Shelf-rubbing at tips. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Pages and endpapers are bright and clean with only a couple of small, faint tone spots. RARE original DJ is present. These early DJs are nearly impossible to find as they just don't exist anymore; in part to cheap materials used, and in part due to the book's intended audience being children. DJ has a shallow open chip at crown, and a one inch open chip at base. Light chipping along fold. Slight foxing on flaps. Thanks to its scarcity, DJs in any condition are desirable. VG/G.
