This first edition seven volume set published in 1898 is 3/4 leather with corners and spines with marbelized covers and end papers. The tops are gilt and the pages are rough cut. The stampings of the previous owner are on the opposite of the fep,the next page and again on the rep and page opposite in all 7 volumes. There are call letters MAS M in white on the spine. There are tissue guards where needed. Volume I is missing about 3" from the bottom of the spine. Volume II is missing a few leather chips at the bottom of the spine. Volume III has light edgewear at the bottom of the spine and a very tiny bit of missing leather. Volume IV is missing small chips at the bottom of the spine and a smallish chip at the top of the spine. VolumeV has light edgewear at the bottom of the spine. Volume VI has light edge wear at the bottom of the spine and twotiny tears at the top of the spine. Volume VII has some missing leather chips and edgewear at the bottom of the spine and a small missing chip at the top of the spine. All the volumes are tight and bright with no other markings except the stampings of the previous owner, "Scottish Rite Bodies, Mobile, Ala".The leather edges show wear as do the extremities.
