This is a softcover book by Alex Moose with no publisher name or publishing date. There is a page with the copyright date of 1969 and the author-illustrator names. , The next page is a photo of Nay-Gwon-A-Be, a former Chief of the Mille Lacs Band of Chippewas who the author refers to in thetas a teacher of brings into the text abuWa Nay-the author's name, ie author is Alex Moose, of Isle, Minnesota, Mille Lacs County. The illustrator is Al Mohler. There is a photo portrait of Moose in Native American dress, The book is about Native American hunting, fisting, and wild rice planting and harvesting. The Indian 'compass' is brought into each subject. The next photo is of Nay-Gwon-A-Be, a Chief of the Mille Lacs Band of Chippewas who Moose refers to often in the ways of the spirit for these three activities related to food. . The text below the photo is a tribute written in 1889 by two U. S. Commissioners. The book flows from hunting, to fishing, to 'wild ricing', back to fishing and 'wild ricing' through page 100. The. Cover is paper and the book is bound with staples. The book has been well cared for. Tight binding, quite clean covers, a little toning (slightly darker paper from exposure to light on a shelf) at the spine, and the interior pages are very clean and crisp. There are no marks, writing, stamps. There are two tiny closed tears at tthe top and bottom of the spine that have been repaired and are hardly visible. There is an oral history interview by Dr. Anthony Godfrey with the daughter of Alex Moose, Brenda Boyd, at the Minnesota State Historical Society. The book is mentioned. The interview is also in text. Again, this book has been well cared for. The book is small - 6 1/4" tall, 4 1/4" wide.
