The irradiation can change the mechanical properties of the steel used in nuclear power plant structure. The radioactive effect on the vessel of nuclear power reactor causes radiation damage by altering the material properties of nuclear pressure vessel. The effects of the irradiation are mainly important on the toughness parameters (DBTT, KIC). In this work, instrumented Charpy tests was used to study and analyze the effect of specimen size and geometry on the dynamic fracture toughness of 15H2MFA steel used in nuclear pressure vessels of Paks atomic reactor in Hungary. Different concepts (function of the pressure vessel, fission phenomena, neutron interactions, swelling and radiation Creep) are discussed briefly to elaborate the concept of embrittlement and changes in DBTT of the steel in the nuclear reactor pressure vessel. An FEM algorithm is introduced to simulate the cooling of as-cast steel from any temperature below the solidification temperature and to predict the generation of the stress concentration regions due to the thermodynamic strains during cooling a steel specimen with different cooling rates. The algorithm is capable of being customized to simulate the thermodynamic behavior of as-cast steel microstructure with any chemical composition and any casting geometry imposed to desired cooling method. The phase transformation simulations were based on the CCT diagram and, therefore, they were quasi-real models. A non destructive test(NDT) ultrasonic image analysis method is suggested for monitoring of the defects configuration modification in casting line production. This book deals with analytical solutions and the basic theoretical cutting parameters used in cutting mechanisms studies. An FEM algorithm is introduced to simulate the cooling of as-cast steel from any temperature below the solidification temperature and to predict the generation of the stress concentration regions due to the thermodynamic strains during cooling a steel specimen with different cooling rates. The algorithm is capable of being customized to simulate the thermodynamic behavior of as-cast steel microstructure with any chemical composition and any casting geometry imposed to desired cooling method. The phase transformation simulations were based on the CCT diagram and, therefore, they were quasi-real models. A non destructive test(NDT) ultrasonic image analysis method is suggested for monitoring of the defects configuration modification in casting line production. A combination of the suggested FEM algorithm and post image processing of NDT ultrasonic images along with laboratory cooling experiments and microstructural analysis provide a guideline to estimate the optimum cooling rate for casting any grade of steel. 240 pp. Englisch. The radioactive effect on the vessel of nuclear power reactor causes radiation damage by altering the material properties of nuclear pressure vessel. The effects of the irradiation are mainly important on the toughness parameters (DBTT, KIC). In this work, instrumented Charpy tests was used to study and analyze the effect of specimen size and geometry on the dynamic fracture toughness of 15H2MFA steel used in nuclear pressure vessels of Paks atomic reactor in Hungary. Different concepts (function of the pressure vessel, fission phenomena, neutron interactions, swelling and radiation Creep) are discussed briefly to elaborate the concept of embrittlement and changes in DBTT of the steel in the nuclear reactor pressure vessel.
