This is a complete four-volume set of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales, printed and published in Odense, the native town of the author. Edited by Svend Larsen and translated by R.P. Keigwin. Books are in excellent condition, dust jackets have a few small chips. Volume 4 dust jacket has a 3/4" tear in top edge. All dust jackets in mylar protectors. Page counts per volume (in order) are 394, 368, 368, and 397. The books are in the original box, although this box shows definite wear including splits at all four corners of the top portion and some foxing on the white edges. Bottom portion still quite sturdy.; Four Volume Boxed Set; 4 x 5 3/4" Near Fine in Very Good+ dust jacket.

First edition hard back binding in publisher's original burgundy cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine, gilt vignette to the front cover, top edge gilt. 8vo. 8½'' x 6''. Contains portrait frontispiece, (xvi), 338 + ii printed pages of text with lovely monochrome illustrations throughout. Small ink message dated 1938 to the top of the front free end paper, spine very slightly faded, small surface marks to the boards and in Very Good clean and sound condition, no dust wrapper.
