Among his other major works are Nadja (1928); Le Second Manifeste (1930); Le Revolver a cheveus blancs (1932); Les Vases Communicants (1932); Arcane 17 (1944) an Entretiens (1952). His interest in revolutionary movements of our time, both social and artistic, was the basis for his effort to push surrealist experiments in the direction of mental liberation and the reacquisition of the mind's true dimensions, both essential to the liberation of man. ***This selection of his poems, based on Breton's own choice in the volume Poemes (1948), is translated by Kenneth White. It is the only edition of Breton's poetry available in the English language.' About this Item: Rimbaud Verlagsges mbH, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. 1. Aufl.. Language: German . Brand New Book. Seller Inventory # LIB9783890864372

About this Item: Alyscamps Press, Paris and London, 1998. Soft Cover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 4to. Stitched wrappers. 32pp. One of 274 copies (of 300). The 1st printing of this gathering of eleven poems, none of which had previously appeared in English. Only two ('Allotropy' and 'After the Giant Anteater') were published during Breton's lifetime, originally appearing in 'Le Revolver a cheveux blancs' in 1932; the others were first published in the 'Oeuvres completes' volumes I (1988) and II (1992). As Polizzotti writes, the poems 'chronicle the most emotionally trying period in Andre Breton's life. They are in some ways a disparate lot, ranging from the purely automatic to the carefully structured, from prose to free verse, but each reflects a facet of the two unhappy loves - one idealized and unrequited, the other tortured and doomed - that occupied Breton's heart in the early years of Surrealism.' Also included are a photograph each of Breton (c. 1931) and Suzanne Muzard (c. 1928), and one of them together (c. 1929). The cover shows a cut-out drawing by Nadja (1926). A Very Good, lightly shelfworn copy of a handsome production, with some small creases throughout. Seller Inventory # 003327

About this Item: Les Éditions du Sagittaire, Paris, 1953. Softcover. Condition: g-. First trade edition. Small quarto. 286pp. Uncut and unopened copy. Original illustrated dust-jacket over printed wrappers. Jacket superbly illustrated by Miró. Half-title inscribed and signed by the author to "Aux amis d'Indice, hommage d'André Breton. "La Clé des Champs" collects commentaries, introductions, declarations, and reviews written between the late 1930s and early 1950s, all of which show that Breton has not given up seeking all manner of keys to art that is capable of giving free rein to the imagination. He elaborates upon themes already presented in the first "Manifesto of Surrealism" (1924), Nadja (1928), Surrealism and Painting (1928), and L'Amour fou (Mad Love) (1937), namely the ascendancy of an inner vision over an exterior outlook, the greater effectiveness of analogical thinking, and the power of certain objects to release the insights characteristic of a visionary (as opposed to merely visual) perspective. Moderate creasing and light damp-staining along edges of dust-jacket. Upper part of wrappers slightly foxed. Pages age-toned throughout. Light damp-staining along upper margin of pages (not affecting text or illustrations). Dust-jacket, wrappers and interior in overall good- condition. Seller Inventory # 41022
