About this Item: D. Lothrup & Company, Boston, 1882. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Green cloth with gilt spine titles plus border and cover decorations in red; 12mo; 238 +6pp ads; illustrated with engraved frontispiece portrait of authors, title page vignette plus 2 other full-page engravings. A non-fictional account taken from journals the two trappers kept during their winter in the northwest corner of Maine. In the authors' words, the book "will give an account of the scheme which worked to the preservation of the fish and game north of the Rangeley Lakes; also how we roughed it in order to learn from the mighty forest." Book shows moderate cover rubbing, some foxing to frontispiece tissue guard, hinges tender, occasional page smudge, inked inscription from former owner apparently having stayed at the Barker Camp in 1888. Overall, a decent copy of an uncommon Maine woods book. Seller Inventory # 001759
