Hard Back. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Sussman, Leonard - Drawings & Etchings (illustrator). First Edition. 154 Pages with Afterword containing List of Etchings and Drawings, Map, and three additional drawings. Brown boards with very light wear to bottom corners and green endpapers have some fading at the edges. Dust jacket is tattered but covers and flaps are complete. Flap price is missing and a 2 ¾ inch chunk is missing at the bottom of the back dust jacket. The photographs, the stories, the drawings and etchings have all, made a work of art that is far greater than the sum of its parts. In this book the author has returned to scenes from his childhood in one of the hidden pockets of American life, the Ozarks of Arkansas-not the modern Ozarks, but rather the rural landscape, where generations of Minicks and their neighbors have worked the land and prayed for deliverance. Roger's father, Bob Minick, is an Ozarker through and through, a natural storyteller, and has herein told some of the tales he heard-or thought he heard-during his own youth back home. His tales are, at first, pure down-home country and western, but, lying in wait for the reader, there is frequently Something Else. Leonard Sussman is a native Californian; he made these drawings and etchings out of the richness of his own imagination. These are his hills of home, too.
