Very Good: spine and a tiny bit on either side has sunned but the writing is clear and distinct. There is some browning on the inside covers, and an owner's bookplate is on the inside front cover. Some recipes have a X in biro beside them, but the binding is firm and the pages are clean and fresh. The writing is knowledgeable, practical and relaxed and the book was an influential and very successful introduction of French recipes to an English audience. The drawings throughout by David Gentleman are absolutely delightful. A Penguin Handbook.
