John Lane The Bodley Head, 1945, [reprint, first was previous year] 32 pages, illustrated in colour. Boards in good condition, mild shelf wear, touch of wear at top and foot of spine but a very decent copy. No jacket. Book now in acetate sleeve for protection [ removable] Born in 1913 Campbell trained at St Martins and The Central School of Art. She was in the Land Army during WW2 and in the long evenings began to write and draw her first book. She illustrated books throughout the late 1p40's 1950's but later turned to modelmaking. No dj, colour pictorial boards slightly worn on edges and a little dusty, a few small areas rubbed (one on front, the others at top rear), spine is fragile and peeled at top and bottom, corners bumped, covers are slightly bowed. Inscription in light pencil on front flyleaf, front inner hinge a little weak, some light foxing on endpapers, pages are clean and bright. Overall a very good copy of a collectible book. small 8vo, (24pp). CAM's first book. (Spotting to the end-papers and neat birthday gift inscription to the front paste-down. A very nice copy in slightly worn VG D/W with a V-shaped closed tear to the back panel. Cam's 1st Book. Tells the story of a lamb who could sing, who had great success at the theatre in London?until she caught a cold - and her singing career came to an end. About this Item: London: Collins. [c.], 1953. Suite of 14 original pen, ink and watercolour drawings for "Three Jolly Friends". Mounted. Cam's early draft of what would later be published as The Three Jolly Boatmen. Comprising 4 full-page drawings (measuring 24 x 19 cms) and 10 double-page spreads (24 x 37 cms), a few with manuscript text in the author's hand below the illustration. Two illustrations with small adhesions where the artist has fixed redrawn items of clothing, then removed them. There are two different designs for the title page, both retaining the working title of Three Jolly Friends. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request.
