Words by Ballard MacDonald ; music by Harry Carroll. Cover illustration by Starmer, with inset photograph of Yvette Rugel. The song was inspired by John Fox, Jr.'s 1908 novel of the same title, the song expresses the singer's love for his girl, June, who lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. In acceptable condition a split to the outside covers (repaired with clear tape) and several other small nicks and tears and light creasing along edges. Previous owner's name at top of front cover and date on top corner of back cover. Light to moderate overall scuffing aging and soiling. Inside of front cover (page [2]) is an ad with single line excerpts from songs by Ballard Macdonald and others. Back cover has an ad for "It Takes a little Rain with the Sunshine to make the world go round".

Edward Pfeiffer (illustrator). This is pristine first edition of the music for Tip-Top Tipperary Mary, a huge World War I hit, and a song that people still know and sing. Words by Ballard MacDonald. Music by Harry Carroll, writers of "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine". Published in 1916 by Shapiro, Bernstein & Co. Music Publishers New York Cover illustration signed E. Pfeiffer N.Y. That is the illustrator Edward Henry Pfeiffer (1868-1932) who was famed for his stunningly beautiful sheet music artwork. This piece is mounted into a 15" x 18" heavy card stock frame, which opens to reveal the full sheet music (see photos). It is contained in a heavy plastic envelope. If you don't want the frame, the music is easily removed. NOTE: I have a lot of sheet music listed here. Contact me if you'd like to buy more than one piece and combine shipping.

Browning and staining to the back cover. Browning to the pages with rusty marks around the stamples but the pages are otherwise unmarked.
