Two engravings frontis plus twenty exceptionally handsome engrvings in text of scenes and animals in India after William Daniell. . The Oriental Annual is the second of a planned three volume set containing descriptions of the three English Presidencies in India. The first covered Madras, this volume describes Calcutta. Ultimately seven volumes by the author with illustrations by Daniell were published. Dedicated to the then-Princess Victoria and her mother, the Duches of Kent. Text is clean, tight and undamaged, no foxing Front hinge cracked but holding. Oriiginal blind -stamped with a pattern of coiled snakes surrounding a gold-stamped imaged of three men riding an elephant, Gold stmped title with palm tree and camel on spine. Pigskin leather boards in VG condition with slight loss along edges. Gilt edged pages. Previous owner's name in pencil plus binders' stamp on front end-papers. Presumed First. Stamped Leather.
