Five studio still photographs, one of which is a compilation photograph of two images, from the 1979 re-release of the 1959 film. Based on the story "La Bell au bois Dormant" ("The Sleeping Beauty") from the 1697 book "Histoires ou contes du temps passe," by Charles Perrault, which laid the foundation for the fairy tale, deriving the tales from earlier folk tales. Walt Disney's last adaptation of a fairy tale in his lifetime, due to lackluster boxoffice performance and mixed critical response, largely because of similarities with 1937 "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," now an undeniable classic in the Disney's pantheon of animated features. Nominated for an Academy Award. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine. National Film Registry.

Add to basketCondition: As New. Clyde Geronimi (illustrator). This is a collection of prints. Size: 14" x 10" (360mm x 260mm). Two very rare Disney Ozalids from the collection of Peter Adby, the Manager of Walt Disney's London Studio (from 1953-1968). Two Model Sheets from "Pecos Bill", featuring 36 individual drawings of characters from the animation. These sheets have obviously been used in production in the Disney Studios and show signs of this use as it was used to help create Disney History, as such, there is an expected level or wear and tear. Pecos Bill is an animated short from the film Melody Time released on May 27, 1948. It was reissued as a stand-alone short on February 20, 1954, and has also appeared on Disney Sing Along Songs (1986) and Rootin' Tootin' Roundup (1989). Considered official Disney Documents, these sheets rarely if ever left the Studios. The Ozalid printing process relies on a sensitised paper being developed using ammonia vapour, resulting in a very stable and long lasting print, often used by architects and early animation studios, as the sheets would have been handled over and over. This rare Disney Ozalid is from the collection of Peter Adby, the Studio Manager of Walt Disney's London studio (from 1953-1968). (1.01).

Amsterdam distributor stamp on the verso. Originally produced as part of Disney's goodwill message for Latin America under Franklin D. Roosevelt's Good Neighbor policy, and a follow-up to the 1942 animated film "Saludos Amigos." 10.5 x 6.5 inches. Very Good, lightly toned, with wear at the corners and on the right edge.

Vintage reference photograph of director Hamilton Luske and layout artist Thor Putnam, working together on concept art and storyboards for the 1953 film. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. Based on the 1904 play by J.M. Barrie. The 14th animated feature film by Walt Disney, who first purchased the play rights in 1938. The project was postponed after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, however, when Disney was contracted to produce training and war propaganda films by the US government. 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine.

Vintage reference photograph of an animation inker working on a cel of Pecos Bill for the 1948 animated film. Printed mimeo snipe affixed to the verso. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. The last anthology feature made by Walt Disney Productions, and the last film to feature The Andrews Sisters trio. Walt Disney's typical practice of not hiring women animators changed after World War II, although the position was still by and large held by men. The processes of inking and painting cels, however, were almost entirely performed by young women. Although inking and painting were integral to the animation process, male animators often disparaged the work, considering it unchallenging and uncreative, and inkers and painters were rarely credited in the finished films. The unseen women of the ink and paint department were the subject of a 2017 book, "Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation." 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine, with brief wear at the corners.
