Gold print on spine. Paper wrapped portions have missing pieces, on cover and fore edges. Leather missing on spine ends and tips. Leather used to be green, but has faded to brown in most spots. Endpapers are same marble pattern as covers. Rubwear at tips and tattering at spine ends. Chipping in paper along head, bottom and foredges. Hinges are solid. Text block is sound and unmarked.628 pages. Contents start at Chapter XVI, "The Naval Battle of Lake Champlain" and end at Chapter XXIX, "Vermont's Rapid Growth"( following admittion to the United States.
