Wraps. Presumed first edition/first printing. Includes illustrations. Various paginations, approximately 110 pages. This was prepared by the Professional Development Center SEA 90LD. This is a fascinating snapshot in time illuminating military career development activities for civilian employees. This is representative of the period between the end of the Vietnam War and the First Persian Gulf War. From Wikipedia: "The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is the largest of the U.S. Navy's five "systems commands, " or materiel (not to be confused with "material") organizations. NAVSEA consists of four shipyards, nine "warfare centers" (two undersea and seven surface), four major shipbuilding locations and the NAVSEA headquarters, located at the Washington Navy Yard, in Washington D.C. NAVSEA's primary objective is to engineer, build and support the U.S. Navy's fleet of ships and combat systems. NAVSEA accounts for nearly one-fifth of the Navy's budget, with more than 100 acquisition programs under its oversight.The Naval Sea Systems Command was established on 1 July 1974 with the merger of the Naval Ship Systems Command with the Naval Ordnance Systems Command. The Naval Ship Systems Command was established in 1966 replacing the Navy's Bureau of Ships (BuShips). Established in 1940, BuShips succeeded the Bureau of Construction and Repair, which had been responsible for ship design and construction, and the Bureau of Engineering, which had been responsible for propulsion systems." Many illustrations in color The Carderock Division worked at a fundamental level to the basic sciences that underlie surface ship and submarine hull, electrical and mechanical systems. This insitution provides a unique research perspective that complemented both academic research and work performed at the Naval Research Laboratory. Within the Navy, the carderock Division was expected to bridge the problem oriented worlds of the Systems Command looking for proven solutions with the long range vision of the Office of Naval Research looking for concepts and possibilities. Very good. No dust jacket. Cover has slight wear and soiling.

Top front corner slightly bumped. Small cluster of indents on back, long scratch-like indent. Top front edge has some bumps, as does spine. Tail of spine rounded inwards. Some light smudges to textblock edges, but otherwise in Very Good condition. Blank endpapers. Internal text free of highlights or underlining. Five volumes in one.
