Deluxe issue of the Brock-illustrated edition of The Chimes, one of Dicken's five "Chistmas Books". Eighteen illustrations, eight in colour, by the Cambridge artist Charles Edmund Brock [1870-1938]. Very good condition, the binding, decoration and titles clean and bright, the pages and endpapers unmarked. An unusually well-preserved example of this scarce edition.

Very good condition, some fading to the spines, spots of foxing to the endpapers, faded contemporary gift inscription to that of The Chimes, bookplates to the last three volumes, otherwise no faults. A very nice set. Scarce.

With great full color illustrations by C.E. Brock. Near Fine, small sspot near bottom of spine, tiny rubs at the corners. A quite lovely copy with the desirable Brock illustrations. First impressions of the Brock-illustrated edition, five volumes [1905-1907] in the publishers full cream vellum, elaborately titled and decorated in gilt. A total of eighty-eight illustrations, (including forty in colour) by the Cambridge artist Charles Edmund Brock [1870-1938]. Very good condition, boards bowing a little as usual, some spotting and offsetting to the endpapers and paste-downs with minor spotting to some of the plates. Unobtrusive gift inscription to the front endpaper of The Battle of Life, Dickens Centenary commemoration stamp to the half-titles of The Chimes and The Haunted Man, otherwise no faults. A beautiful set and very scarce.
