Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First published in 1864, this is a one volume edition in a handsome full leather school prize binding. 18.5 x 24.5 cm, printed in double columns, lxi, [2], 1002 [2] pages, portrait frontispiece. Some creasing and chipping to title pages and frontispiece, foxing to a few pages first and last but otherwise very sound and clean internally. Binding with crest of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Grammar school on front board, school prize label on pastedown, not much wear but joints neatly reinforced with paper.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Half maroon calf with maroon cloth covers. Some rubbing and marks to covers and spine. Corners bumped and rubbed. 1003 pages. Heavy book. Foxing to some pages. Black and white illustrations.

1/2 leather. Condition: Good+. Undated, circa 1880. Good+. 3 Volumes. Tall 4to., bound in half black calf and purple textured cloth with gilt decoration and colored title labels to the spine, marbled edges. Numerous images by Selous. Rubbing to edges, spine and boards. Tips rubbed through. Cloth has some stains and fading. Scattered light foxing throughout.

Hardbound. H.C. Selous (illustrator). Of tragedies, comedies, & historical plays / boards lightly rubbed / some foxing & light water stains to text. Profusely illustrated with full page engravings with tissue / all edges gilt / ex library / all bindings solid / 1800's. VG+ / 3 large folio volumes containing 1 volume each.

Half Leather. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. H. C. Selous (illustrator). No date of publication, though circa 1860s (Cassell Petter & Galpin existed in this configuration from 1858 to 1878). Complete set in three volumes, including comedies, histories, and tragedies. Burgundy dyed leather over spines and corners, with buckram burgundy cloth over boards. Beveled edges. Gilt stamped lettering on spine and top cover. Raised spine bands create six compartments on each spine. Leather is rubbed and scuffed, with a little loss of some lettering on spine. Light wear at corners and spine ends. There is a little light scattered foxing, mostly seen on first and last few leaves, and more so on tissue guards than the actual leaves. All three volumes remains tight, and are otherwise very clean and intact. Due to size and weight additional charges will apply for Priority and/or International shipping.

Profuse engraved illustrations by Selous, Watson, Barnard, Small et al, including; portrait double frontispieces to each volume, many tissueguarded full page plate illustrations all in very good order, intext illustrations, chapter head pieces, coloured endpapers. Volume I cracked to upper hinge, front free endpaper detached but present, Volume VII lacking front free endpaper, all volumes shaken, Vol I upper board bowed, else internally good clean tight sound, no bookplate, inscriptions or ownership marks of any kind, remarkably free from foxing or browning. Bound in bright gilt embossed, lettered, ruled and lustrated pictorial red cloth, featuring elaborate gilt and black illustration including portrait, fleursdelys, flora, stars, scrolled leaves, and many ruled compartments. Great shelf presence though sloped, with 2 gilt title and volumedivision labels, and elaborate black illustration. A great Edition of the more uncommon 7 volume set with wonderful illustrations, at reduced price due to shaken boards, all edges very bright gilt. Bound in half leather over marbled boards, two spine labels lettered in gilt, all edges marbled, green endpapers, front hinge starting in one volume, ink name to first blank of each. Edges of boards a bit rubbed and scuffed, marbling to boards scuffed, leather scratched and scuffed around edges and corners, spines sunned. Contents clean, the books are tight and square. Overall an attractive set, with numerous illustrations in the text and full page plates.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. VG, no DJ. Four volume set. Scarce thus. Moderate edgewear, light signs of general wear to exteriors, bindings solid and straight, interiors clean and unmarked, pages aged. Lightly read, but a very nice set.
