Several pages feature black-and-white photographs of the Pacific Northwest. 157 pages. 8 x 5.5 inches. Poetry about the natural beauty and history of Oregon, along with patriotic and other themes, by a Forest Grove/Portland author and minister. William Steward Gordon (1868-1948) was born in Danville, Illinois, and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon in 1880. He studied at Tualatin Academy, Pacific University, and Willamette University. Early in his career he became the principal of Cornelius High School and in 1885 received his license to preach. He resided in the Forest Grove and Portland area until his death. A well known local poet, he was the author of Oregon's official poem for the pioneer missionary Jason Lee, a poem which he read at the state house of representatives. Signed by Author(s).
