Binding and hinges are strong and tight. Gray cloth stamped in red and gold. Illustrated photographic endpapers. Charcoal topstain. Faint, scant foxing to page deck, title page and frontispiece. The original DJ has its $5.00 price intact on flap. Attractive red DJ with a photograph of Walden pond. DJ shows chipping, closed tear, creasing and wrinkles on rear. a thin open chip at base, smaller chips, rubs and edge wrinkles elsewhere. An uncommon edition, in a lesser common DJ of the desirable first Teale edition, first printing.
