Half polished brown calf over brown moiré-grained cloth: competently rebacked and recornered. Illustrated with engraved title and 24 engraved plates (several transfer-printed in colors). The plates, intended for students of topographical drawing, demonstrate the conventional styles, signs, and exacting specifications required to technically produce a serviceable geographic or hydrographic map. CONDITION: A few cover/edge scuffs, shelf labels on lower front cover; ink stamps of the British Patent Office Library to the verso of title and each plate, British Library discard stamp to title verso; plates VG+.
