Please See All Photos. ~ Vintage 1989 Children's Book. Signed. A father is happy with his newborn son. He dreams of all the things he will teach him when his son is old enough. However, the father is too busy with work, and he misses spending time with his son. As the boy grows, the father becomes caught in the demands of an adult world?meetings, conventions, and work. The father's dreams of shared activities with his son become the boy's solitary pursuits. Despite this, the book attempts to develop a happy ending, but it maintains a wistful, melancholy quality throughout. The detailed black-and-white illustrations by Wendy Wolsak enhance the text and depict the passage of time as the characters mature. Signed And Inscribed By Author.

Soft cover. Condition: USED_VERYGOOD. Brynjolson, Rhian (illustrator). First Edition, Second Printing. 2nd Printing (1998) of the 1996 edition of this rare and delightful book written and SIGNED by Peter Eyvindson and illustrated by Rhian Brynjolson. Light crease to front cover (may have been rolled), one surname in upper corner of title page and a red dot has been taped to the front cover. Peter Eyvindson is a writer who has based much of his children's writing on his experiences as a teacher librarian, some of them in Northern Manitoba. Pemmican Publications has been his most frequent publisher and most of his books feature aboriginal and metis children, as does this one. Rhian Brynjolson is a Winnipeg artist who has written a book called Foster Babies for children and foster families. She has illustrated a number of Eyvindson's books. Red Parka Mary tells about a seven year old boy and his initial fear of an elderly woman "it might have been the way Mary dressed. It didn't matter if it was 40 below or 40 above, she always wore big floppy moccasins lined with rabbit fur, thick grey wool socks, three or four sweaters heavily darned at the elbow and a Montreal Canadien hockey toque pulled down over her straggly grey hair." They become friends and he learns many things from her. Signed by Author(s).
