About this Item: Pantianos Classics, United States, 2018. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This collection of evocative poems based upon scenes in nature are based upon the author's faith in God, and her love of beauty in the natural world. A beautiful and moving anthology of verses, Out of Doors offers a look at both the great outdoors in all its boundless splendor, and the author's personal connection with her Christian faith. Expressing both personal and earthly devotion, Annie Flint's words are eloquent and rich in imagery, her descriptions of the interplay of plant and animal life joyful. Many of the poems concern the passing of the seasons, the splendid colors of autumn as the leaves fall, or the blossom of new life in the spring. The poetry within is comprised of vignettes, a series of short but memorable images; birds in motion between the trees, the lively bloom of flowers, the glory of all creation. In all, this collection is a perfect introduction to the author's work, and to the natural poetry genre as it stood in the early 20th century. Flint's personal struggles - nursing her sick mother until she died, and then experiencing illness herself - gave her an immense understanding of misfortune; Annie appreciated simple things, such as the world around us, more than most. About this Item: Independently Published, United States, 2019. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This is the only known biography of the Christian poetess Annie Johnson Flint, who died in 1932. She was described by the late Ravi Zacharias as one of the greatest hymwriters, and he often recited her most famous poem - "He Giveth More Grace". The story is told by Roland V. Bingham [1872-1942] who was the founder of the Sudan Interior Mission (now the Serving in Mission (SIM)) and knew Annie personally. This account of her life, as well as telling her remarkable triumph over severe physical adversity, also records the only known 'autobiography' of hers, together with a selection of her poetry, a great deal of which has been out of print for decades. This book is a good companion to three volumes of Annie's inspirational and uplifting poetry - "He Giveth More Grace", "God Hath Not Promised" and "Grace Sufficient.". About this Item: Independently Published, United States, 2019. Paperback. Condition: New. Annotated edition. Language: English. Brand new Book. Discover the inspirational poetry of Annie Johnson Flint - a woman born on Christmas Eve 1886, and whom the late Ravi Zacharias described as one of the greatest hymnwriters, and whose poems have been a source of comfort to millions. Annie was sadly crippled with arthritis for much of her life - but like Fanny Crosby, she didn't let her physical limitations prevent her from leaving an incredible legacy of writing. This varied collection of one hundred poems includes the most well-known - He Giveth More Grace - and reflects an unwavering faith in God's promises through her trials, her belief that He had a plan and purpose for her life, and a delightful appreciation of God's creation. A special blessing to those who have been recently bereaved or experiencing difficult trials, this collection will also inspire and encourage all believers on their disciple journey, especially those who enjoy the writings of Elisabeth Elliott, Helen Steiner Rice and Amy Carmichael. This book, the first of three volumes of Annie's poems, includes an abbreviated version of her biography, the full version of which is entitled 'The Making of the Beautiful.' The second volume of poems is entitled 'God Hath Not Promised' and the third 'Grace Sufficient.'. Seller Inventory # APC9781708275099

About this Item: Rare Christian Books, (Spine Stapled), REPRINT. Soft cover. Condition: New. SPINE STAPLED. 60 Pages, Large Print. It was this most sensitive sufferer, ANNIE JOHNSON FLINT, who, out of her keen experiences of pain, prepared so many poem-pillows for the weary, the suffering, the discouraged in body, mind and spirit. The message of Annie's life is found in just such episodes, and just such lovely, heartening, deeply spiritual poems as are included in this book. Here is an exhibit of what God can do with a life so bound and yet so gloriously free, in a ministry rarely granted to any dweller in our needy world. Seller Inventory # 1041
