'According to UNICEF, growing up with domestic violence is one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the world, affecting more than a billion people. Yet, too few people are aware of the profound impact it can have. Invincible seeks to change this lack of awareness and understanding with a compelling look at this important issue, informing and inspiring anyone who grew up living with domestic violence--and those who love them, work with them, teach them, and mentor them. Through powerful first-person stories, including the author's own experiences, as well as insightful commentary based on the most recent social science and psychology research, Invincible not only offers a deeper understanding of the concerns and challenges of domestic violence, but also provides proven strategies everyone can use to reclaim their lives and futures'--. About this Item: Simmons-Boardman Books, 2004. Hardcover. Condition: Used; Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. No marks or writing observed in text. Binding tight and square. Gently read. . . . . . . First, I'll start this review with a caveat - I am the photographer's daughter. Therefore, while I'll admit that I might not be able to provide a completely unbiased review, I will say that anyone who has ever loved trains will love this book. The pictures are beyond wonderful and evoke a strong nostalgia for the days when railroads were a vital, and everyday, part of life. It brings back my early childhood memories of going down to the Plainfield, NJ station to watch the occasional steam engine go through, or to see the wonderful 'Phoebe Snow' whiz past. It reminds me of the Saturdays, being slightly older, when a great day would be spent with a pal, riding one of the branches of the Erie Lackawanna. So, whether you too might have memories to be invoked, or whether you missed this wonderful era of railroading and would enjoy seeing what it looked like (you can almost hear and smell the trains as well), this is definitely the book for you! -- L. G. Lewis. Seller Inventory # 71487
