Jill Jevne bound these copies in 1989. "A story of travel and labor, with the classical divisions, told almost entirely through pictorial printer's sorts. A 'concrete' story, then-concrete and steel, and the flight of birds over the city skyline." (David Abel.) Fine.

The wood engravings were printed from the wood, and the line blocks were made by Keene Engraving. The contents are able to make one gasp with pleasure. They are hand-pressed, the illustrations and other devices are tipped-in. The pages are gorgeous, creamy, thick, luxuriant in their elegance, very clean and very - as if brand new throughout.
